We never sell your data, and we do not use it for automated decisions. People on our team review every application.
5. Young dancers under 18
YAON is open to dancers aged 12 to 21, so many applicants are minors. For any dancer under 18, a parent or legal guardian must give consent before we accept the application, and receives a copy of every confirmation email.
We use a minor's data only for the purposes in section 4, in the dancer's best interest. A parent or guardian can exercise the rights in section 10 on the dancer's behalf. Photos or videos of a minor are used for promotion only with a parent or guardian's separate consent.
6. Who we share it with
Partner organizations. When we consider you for an opportunity, we may share your profile, photos, CV and video links with the school, company, festival, competition or agency offering it. We share only what that opportunity needs. They make their own decisions and handle your data under their own privacy policies.
Service providers that process data for us, under contract:
| Provider | What they do for us |
|---|---|
| Google (Google Workspace) | Stores applications and files, sends emails |
| Squarespace | Hosts joywomack.com |
| Wise | Processes audition fees |
| Donorbox | Processes donations |
Your audition videos stay on your own YouTube account; we only keep the links. We may also disclose data where the law requires it.
7. International transfers
The Foundation is based in the United States, and YAON connects dancers with partners in many countries, so your data may be transferred outside the EU or Brazil. Where we use service providers, we rely on safeguards the law recognizes, such as standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. When we send your profile to a partner abroad, we do so with your consent and only for an opportunity you are being considered for.
8. How long we keep it
| Data | How long |
|---|---|
| YAON application, photos, CV and video links | 1 year from the date you apply, then deleted unless you agree to renew it |
| Audition footage and review notes | 1 year from the audition, then deleted unless you agree to keep it longer |
| Payment and donation records | As long as US tax and accounting law requires |
| Email list for Foundation news | Until you unsubscribe |
| Promotional photos you agreed to | Until you withdraw consent; material already published may remain |
You can ask us to delete your application at any time before these periods end.
9. How we protect it
Applications and files are stored in a private Google Workspace account that only authorized Foundation staff can open. Files are never published at public links. Access is limited to the people who review applications, and accounts are protected with two-step sign-in. If a breach ever puts your data at risk, we will tell you and the relevant authority as the law requires.
10. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
tell you what data we hold about you and give you a copy
correct or update it
delete it
stop or limit how we use it
send it to you or another organization in a common format
withdraw any consent you gave, without affecting what we did before
Email joy@jwbf.org with your YAON reference number if you have one. We reply within one month. We may ask you to confirm your identity first. Parents and guardians can make these requests for a dancer under 18.
11. Cookies and website analytics
joywomack.com runs on Squarespace, which sets cookies needed for the site to work and, if enabled, analytics cookies that show us how pages are used. Visitors in the EU and Brazil are asked to accept or decline non-essential cookies through the site's cookie banner. The YAON form itself sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device.
12. Contact, complaints and changes
Questions or requests: joy@jwbf.org.
If you are unhappy with how we handled your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority: in France the CNIL, in Brazil the ANPD, or the authority in your own country.
We will post any changes to this notice on this page with a new date, and email YAON applicants about significant changes.
