A Year on the Global Stage: 2025–2026
Joy Womack
Over the past two years, my work has taken me across stages, cities, and creative environments, continuing a trajectory defined by performance, collaboration, and building new artistic platforms.
This period has not only been about where I’ve danced, but about expanding how ballet is experienced and shared with audiences worldwide.
Paris: Artistic Base and Creative Direction
Paris has remained my primary base, where I have focused on both performance and creation.
Here, I have been developing Maison de Danse Paris, a performance concept designed to present ballet in a more intimate, elevated format. These productions bring together classical repertoire and contemporary works in curated evenings that appeal to both traditional audiences and a new generation of cultural attendees.
Alongside performing, Paris has allowed me to maintain a high level of daily training and coaching, which continues to be essential to sustaining and evolving my work on stage.
Brussels: The Nutcracker – 5 Performances
In Brussels, I performed five shows of The Nutcracker alongside Gustavo Carvalho.
This run was a highlight of the season, combining the discipline of classical repertoire with the energy of live theater across multiple performances. Dancing The Nutcracker in a European context continues to be deeply meaningful, connecting tradition with new audiences each season.
International Highlights: Bahamas
In the Bahamas, I had the opportunity to perform in a special program alongside Xander Parish.
This experience brought ballet into a unique setting, outside of traditional theaters, and reinforced the power of dance to connect with audiences in any environment. It also marked the beginning of continued artistic dialogue and future collaboration.
Gala Performances and Guest Appearances
Throughout 2025 and 2026, I have continued to perform in international galas and special programs.
These performances allow for a dynamic mix of classical pas de deux, contemporary works, and original choreography. They create space for artistic risk, collaboration, and direct connection with audiences.
Each appearance is not only a performance, but an opportunity to represent ballet at the highest level while contributing to a broader cultural conversation.
Building Scalable Performance Concepts
A central focus of this period has been the creation of new performance formats.
Projects such as The Joy of Dance are designed to be adaptable across cities and venues, combining high-level ballet with thoughtful production and audience experience. These concepts are built for theaters, festivals, and private cultural events, making them both artistically strong and operationally scalable.
This work reflects a broader shift toward creating opportunities independently and building platforms that support both artists and audiences.
Teaching, Coaching, and Mentorship
Alongside performing, I have continued to teach and mentor dancers through:
International masterclasses
Private coaching
Development of the Corps Paris curriculum
Working with the next generation remains a core part of my mission, ensuring that technical excellence and artistic integrity continue to evolve.
Looking Forward: 2026 and Beyond
This period marks a clear evolution toward:
Greater artistic independence
International collaboration
Creation of new performance platforms
Expanded audience access to ballet
I am actively seeking new partnerships with theaters, producers, and sponsors who are aligned with this vision.
